Heading South along Corfu and then a little to the East, we find a group of small islands just off the mainland coast called Syvota. Here we will explore the bays and famous Blue Lagoon, before picking a spot amongst the islands’ secluded bays or the little village harbour to enjoy the sunset and stay for the night.
From here we will sail over to Paxos anchoring for a swim in Lakka Bay, taking a long line ashore, and going to the lovely village by dinghy, where you can enjoy a coffee or drink while taking in the leisurely pace of this island's life...
We make an early start to try and savour the delightful Antipaxos, before the crowds descend on it, and then head over to Two Rock Bay on the mainland. A quiet and secluded bay, with pine trees down to the water on three sides and a small canteen bar in the forest looking down on the water, this is a magical place. Some sailors spend days here just chilling...
Starting out exploring the coast around Two Rock, as just one bay up is where the river Acheron flows into the Ionian. This offers the opportunity to go up the estuary a short distance in the dinghy and spot some wildlife. Later on, we will sail down to Preveza, a bustling, very Greek town and port at the mouth of the Amvrakia Gulf. Preveza has a long quay, with many shops and a delightful old town area to explore...
Out through the channel and turning South, we will make our way towards the entrance to Lefkas and the Inland Sea. We will time our arrival to see the bridge lift and go through the canal, passing by Lefkas Town to sail straight to Kalamos, a mountainous island near the mainland. A small village harbour awaits where the local taverna owner is also the unofficial harbourmaster. He will show us where to moor for the night, unless we choose to anchor outside...
Today our destination is Meganisi slightly to the North. For a small island, here we are really spoilt for choice: The frilly coastline of the island, a lace made of rocks and pebbles, offers a multitude of options to anchor for the night, be it the Marina, a small village port, a secluded bay, with or without taverna...
We shall spend the day exploring the bays of Meganisi, island hopping or heading over to the mainland beaches, before heading back through the canal to find a spot in Lefkas Town for the night...
Check out in Lefkas Town and time for goodbyes...
